The original owner and inventor of the Gallery Systems products, Bruce Green, used to be a struggling retail furniture store owner in the late 1980’s, trying to add to sales by selling prints.
The big problem was that every time a print was sold, another print of the same size had to be hung in the same spot or unsightly holes were left in the walls (the landlord wasn't to happy about this either) . That meant that walls were constantly being repaired and painted, which was way too time consuming and costly.
Then, as if by chance, something amazing happened...
Bruce decided to make up a hanging system to hang the prints quickly and easily instead of wasting a ton of time and money fixing and painting walls!
Instantly it became crystal clear to Bruce how to achieve perfectly aligned pictures both horizontally and vertically, thus achieving the perfect display. He saw that the displays of prints looked amazing and he ended up selling way more prints just because they looked great.
However, after a customer wanted to purchase the hanging system for their home, Bruce realised that he had a product he could sell. But he didn’t stop there.
He then created a small and crude manufacturing setup to make the components in his garage.
After that, his sales of the system started going well so he increased his manufacturing capacity by moving to an industrial shed where he could make the system on a larger scale.
The furniture shop has long gone, however building on his success, he decided to create products that made hanging pictures simple and easy, saved his customers time and money and create systems that were so unobtrusive you would hardly know they were there..
Bruce called it “Gallery Systems”.
In 2010, it became clear that the systems were being accepted by home users as well as galleries, schools, universities and government bodies. This is when the idea of the Slimline system came about. A sleeker system that was even more unobtrusive than the original Gallery System.
I worked for Bruce for some 16 years. In 2017 I realised I loved the products so much that I bought the business. As the new owner of Gallery Systems I can now offer our customers products that truly saves them time and money and a lot of frustration when hanging pictures. Art galleries can hang exhibitions in hours instead of days, home users can move their pictures at any time, all without banging nails into the walls, ever again!
